Mount Cook is New Zealands tallest mountain and is one of 19 peaks in the Aoraki Mt Cook National park. The park is a harsh land of ice and rock and glaciers cover 40% of it. The park is also part of Te Waipounamu — South Westland World Heritage Area in recognition of its outstanding natural values.
